We are a semi-canon Weyr. The following are the dragon colors for Xian Weyr in rank order:
Golds: The imperious queens of the Weyr. Impress to only females, and are only females. These dragons are the largest on Pern at 60-70 feet from nose to tail tip, and Impress to women who have strong personalities who are capable of bearing the mantle of leadership. Ranging from a bright, coppery Gold to a dull yellow, there can be many fluctuations in hue. Golds are the clutching mothers of Pern, and are never made to chew firestone. Clutch sizes can range from 10-40, depending on the Gold's mate.
Silvers: The stoic pillars. These mutations are very level-headed and are not prone to strong emotions. Impress to males and females, and are either male or female. Silvers are the second-highest ranking dragon at 55-65 feet nose to tail tip and typically Impress to people who either have similar personalities to themselves, or are exact opposites. Silvers can range in color from a light, pearly gray to a dark, almost charcoal silver. Silver females also clutch, and never chew firestone. Their clutches are slightly smaller than a Gold's at about 10-30 in number.
Bronzes: A Weyr's dynamic leaders. Impress only to males and are only male. Bronzes are the third largest dragon on Pern at 50-60 feet from nose to tail tip, and the most common of the metallic hues. These dragons usually Impress to responsible, upstanding riders.
Blacks: Temperamental and moody. Impress to males and females and are male or female in gender. Blacks are the highest-ranking chromatic color at Xian Weyr, and they tend to Impress riders who have a bit of a chip on their shoulder. Blacks are the most common of the mutation colors. They are about 40-50 feet nose to tail tip. These dragons are all dark obsidian in color, with not much variation throughout. Blacks are also capable of clutching, and so therefore do not chew firestone. Their clutches are typically 10-20 in number, and contain colors of dragons dependent upon their mate (ex: If a Bronze flies a Black female, then Bronze and below may be found in the clutch).
Browns: The stately and steady troopers. Typically, impress only to males and are typically only males. They typically are in the 35-45 feet nose to tail tip size range. Browns usually Impress to steady, levelheaded personality types. Browns are the second-highest rated chromatic dragon, and are medium in size. They can range in hue from tannish to a dark mocha brown.
Blues: Tend to be the more scholarly dreamers. Typically, impress only to males and are only males. Typically about 30-40 feet nose to tail tip. Blues will Impress to characters who have similar personalities to themselves, or to exact opposites. These dragons are on the smaller side, and therefore do not have as much endurance as their larger counterparts. Colors range from pale, sky blue to deep, navy blue.
Purples: Rare mutation that gravitates towards plucky pranksters. Impress to males and females and are males or females in gender. 25-35 feet nose to tail tip size range. Purples are an absolute joy to be around, and they tend to Impress people who are the same way. Small, and usually lithe, Purples are very quick dragons. They can range in hue from light pinkish purple to deep, eggplant purple. Purples can clutch, but may or may not chew firestone. When clutching, Purples lay a clutch that has ten eggs maximum, and the colors contained in that clutch depend on the Purple's mate (Ex: If a Bronze flies a Purple female, then colors that may be found are Bronze and below in color).
Greens: As always, the dainty and emotional divas. They are numerous and keep things interesting. 20-30 feet nose to tail tip size range. Impress to males and females (but are only females in gender), though they are only female. Greens are the most common dragons on Pern, and very small. They can range in color from light sage green to dark forest green. Greens almost never clutch, and are usually made to chew firestone.
Reds: Even rarer than Purples, Reds are small, fiery and want to be in charge. If this was Earth, they would be characterized as having a Napoleon complex. Impress to males and females and are females or males in gender. These dragons are tiny at only about 15-25 feet nose to tail tip, and as such, can easily get into a tight spot. They Impress to riders who tend to be bossy and even borderline arrogant. The colors can range from pale rose red to maroon. Reds never clutch, and are made to chew firestone.
