(Welcome one and all to Xian’s first Flight thread! Want to join in on the fun, and do not have a male dragon? Never fear, for this Flight you may play a NPC character so that you, too, may have the pleasure of writing a dragon flight! It promises to be a good one, with drama in the sky and on the ground, so get in there! The plot is continued from the 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' thread.)
Tag anyone with a male dragon! Harbinger Vox Rae
Unbeknownst to Laloraine, the Green dragon had disappeared from the sky above the altercation in the Weyrbowl. The Greenrider’s mind was alive with distress, but all of the sudden, she was aware of another feeling: anger. Livid, white-hot, molten anger surged through her, and it was all she could do not to scream with it. There was a scream, and it took her a moment to realize it was not hers. It came from the feeding grounds nearby, and it was a draconic screech of rage. Ilydeth.
Laloraine startled violently, and felt her mind meld with the sage-hued Green’s.
You know what to do, my love. Do not eat. Drink only the blood, the Greenrider encouraged. She hated the timing, but Ilydeth’s baleful mood meant nothing else. Apparently, the appearance of Kumari and the resultant clamor had been enough to build the Green’s ire, so close to a Mating Flight anyway.
“She Rises,” she gasped in an almost pained way, to V’sos, praying that he heard so that Kimkinth, too, could blood his kills. “She resists me!”
It was all Laloraine could do not to faint against the torrent of emotion from her dragon, and the terror she felt at being so close to Kumari, and so abruptly defenseless. Her fingers clutched blindly at her lover's arm, seeking him for comfort.
The attacker halted, hearing the words meant for the Bluerider, and was suddenly bowled over by a woman who arrived at the scene. After a confusing moment of unbalance, he sprung around her with deadly speed and force. He lunged at Laloraine and wrenched her roughly away from V'sos, holding the now sightless Greenrider against him roughly. He had come at the perfect time! Ilydeth would Rise, and they would mate together and renew their passion as the dragonlust overcame them both. He tried not to think of Ramroarideth, and how much better the whole experience would be with the Blue Rising majestically to Catch Ilydeth. It was no matter. He would still get what he came for - the Greenrider Laloraine. She was all that he had now that Ramroarideth was gone. He clutched at her possessively as she hung limp, her thoughts now fully with her dragon.
“Either I get her, or no one does!” Was the ragged, choked scream from the previous dragonrider’s throat. He had his sword in his other hand, and it curved viciously towards the Greenrider, who was defenseless now to his attack.
“Unhand her at once, dragonless one, at peril of your life!” The Blackrider called, his amber eyes cold and calculating.
“If you move towards me or follow me, I will certainly kill her,” Kumari responded. He lifted Laloraine easily and took off running, not caring for Ulrict or his fate. He had but one goal -- he would take what was rightfully his!
Laloraine felt tears slip down her face, and all of the sudden, a glorious Green presence was arched over them, wings spread wide to embrace the rising of the sun. Ilydeth Rose to mate, and the Greenrider was no longer with her own body, but suspended above. She felt haughty and powerful. There was no way any would catch her today!
The puny bodies of the humans did not concern her. The only thing that concerned her now was the need to fly far and fast, away from any who dared Rise after her! None of them were worthy of her, the beautiful and strong Ilydeth! She bugled her defiance to the skies, and indeed all those beneath froze in awe of the sight of the sage dragon arrayed gracefully above them, a terrifying sight indeed with her teeth bared in defiance, the claxon sound of her mating call echoing through the Weyr bowl.
Any who dared Rise after she, Ilydeth the Green, would feel her fury and the wind of her flight in their faces!
