Name: Antigone
Gender: Female
Age: 21 Turns
Rank: Weyrguard
Pets (optional): None
Personality: Antigone is as sweet as they come. She always puts everyone first and worries about others before she even gives a thought to herself. This quality has made her an excellent candidate for becoming a weyrguard because she puts everyone’s safety before hers. She is slow to make friends though because she is shy and bonded with a rather possessive watchwher and keeps such weird hours. Once she makes friends, though, you have a friend who will put her life, quite literally, on the line for you. She may not be the brightest glow in the weyr, but she has a heart of gold. Thankfully you don’t have to have lots of book-smarts to make an excellent weyrguard. Antigone is also a plucky lass who is always willing to work, no matter how dirty the job is, and she sticks with a task until it’s completed. Her life of seclusion has made her very soft-spoken and shy, unless people’s lives and safety is on the line, then you had better watch out! She has an almost inhuman ability to wield sword, spear or any weapon at hand for the protection of her weyr. Once the danger passes, though, she reverts back to her meek and timid self. Another reason why it is so hard for her to make friends is due to her wher, Antigosk.
By living alone, Antigone never developed her social skills. She doesn’t let this stop her, though. She is an impressive swordswoman and can use anything as a weapon. She also is a rational and logical thinker, which lends to her excellent negotiator and split-second leader. Other than these few skills, she has no other real talents except wonderful night vision.
Appearance: Antigone is only 5’3”, thus making her very short. Since she has become nocturnal like Antigosk her skin never really sees the sun, thus her skin is the color of fresh milk. A jagged scar mars her practically flawless arm from when she had to cut herself in order to bond with Antigosk. Her hands are a myriad of calluses from her constant weapons practice to keep her skills sharp. Due to this training she is extremely muscular and almost looks squat due to her short stature. Her hair is the same shade of Antigosk’s coppery cinnamon-flecked hide and is cut in a short bob that frames her oval face. Her eyes are a rich shade of cinnamon and are very expressive. They have a slight tilt to the sides which gives her an exotic look emphasized by her flawless creamy countenance.
History: She’s the only child of a miner and lived in the mountains in a little known hold near Crom Hold. After her mother, Jilinke, died when she was only 5 turns, she grew up in seclusion. Her father, Creon, never had time to spend with his daughter because he was the overseer of the mine. She learned to live with this lonely circumstance and would spend hours doing nothing but watch the sky. Her father became aware of her Weyrguard potential after she rescued a batch of miners from a tunnel cave-in. Her sensitive hearing caught the sound of creaking beams and was able to round up the men with her rational and logical reasoning. Without her calm thinking the miners would never have known their danger and would have certainly perished in the cave in. Immediately after the incident Creon sent Antigone to Telgar Weyr when he got word of a Watchwher hatching. She was swept out of her original life and dropped in the middle of a hustling Weyr. She managed to Impress Antigosk and this even changed her secluded life. She now had someone to share her once lonely hours with. The dull hours of the night were a welcome to the activity of day. She and Antigosk soon fell into a comfortable routine with training and guard duty. After spending 7 turns in Telgar a Blue rider brought word of a newly forming Weyr on the Southern Continent and volunteers have been asked to transfer to Xian due to a recent outbreak of violence.
Watchwher: Brown Antigosk
Age: 7 Turns
Watchwher’s Personality: The brown wher is completely possessive of his bonded, almost like a clutching Queen, and he guards both her and the weyr under his guard with a zealousness that astounded their weyrguard trainers. Unlike his soft-spoken counter-part, Antigosk is as dominant and imperious as a Queen. He believes he is the size of a Bronze and acts just like one. In fact he is rather large for a brown wher, reaching 5’ at his shoulder thus bringing him almost eyelevel to Antigone, who is a mere 5’ 3”. He is very intelligent and once he recognizes you as a friend, you know you’ll be safe under his watch.
Watchwher's Appearance: Antigosk is a mousy brown color with variances in his brown hide ranging from copper to cinnamon. He blends in well with wooded areas and shadows, making him an excellent candidate for the jungle Weyr of Xian. He is large for his color and uses it to his advantage to intimidate and protect.
