((Tig and anyone else who wants to join!))
The sticky heat and humidity of Xian was rather stifling at times. The Greenrider and her dragon would still trying to adjust to the drastically different climate from the freezing cold weather at High Reaches. Even in the height of summer, snow could still be found on the highest peak. Gina had never lived anywhere else. Her creamy white skin was sure to burn easily and she had woefully packed incorrectly. Her wardrobe had consisted of thick sweaters and colorful scarves that she had knitted herself. Now she would have to invest a hearty chunk of her marks in pieces appropriate for the blistering heat.
She'd been used to remaining indoors during the worst of the howling winter storms, but the corridors of Xian still seemed hotter than those way up North. The only place she had found thus far to escape the scalding heat was the blessedly cooler twin rivers that ran by the Weyr. If she and Kehedith were not in the weyr, the pair could often be found there, both neck deep in water. Although it was quite a feat for the large Green to submerse her bulk beneath the crest of the water.
Gina had an arm hooked around the last neck ridge of Kehedith as she tread water. They'd found a deep spot around a bend and the current was calm and gentle. She had stripped down to her underclothes and was enjoying the respite from the heat.
Why did we agree to live somewhere so hot, Ginamine? This heat will ruin my hide and your skin! Kehedith pouted. The imperious dragoness did not approve of the transfer anymore. It had sounded like a good idea to leave the crowding at High Reaches behind, but the Green never recalled feeling so gross and hot in her life!
For a dragon, you sure are a fan of the cold. Gina pointed out. Even the Hatching Sands aren't this hot! Kehedith quipped, not yet placated. Gina sighed, part of her agreed with her surly Bonded. But it was too late to turn back. We will just have to learn to live with it, Kehedith-love. Nothing else we can do.
At least no one has found our hiding spot. Kehedith replied, marking the end of discussion. She was fed up with being declined her wish of returning to High Reaches and she muttered to herself as she lowered her snout to blow bubbles in the water.
Gina scowled. We're not done talking about this. She reminded her Green, who splashed the young woman and proceeded to give her Rider the silent treatment. The Blue fire lizard, Argyle, was absent from the River. The flit had sensed the irritation that was flaring between his person and Big Green and had left to find more welcoming company.
Silence reigned over the River as both females sulked and fumed at the other's stubbornness. Each wanted to get her way and neither would agree to a compromise. So it was a chilly atmosphere in the middle of the steamy jungles of Xian should anyone happen upon them in search of a bathing spot for their dragon.
