Laloraine felt heavy and sleepy, as if she had just woken from pleasant dreams. There was a sense of freedom, as if some weight had been lifted from her. She wasn't awake enough yet to process all that had happened, but she knew that it had been good. Very good.
Slowly, it all came back. Kumari had come to Xian, and there was a fight. Her eyes widened as she recalled this - what had come of him? Was he dead? Imprisoned? She wasn't sure. The last memory she'd had was of the Weyrleader bringing her to V'sos in the infirmary... She looked around and flushed when she realized they were still in the infirmary. In a private examination room, yes, but still in the infirmary. She supposed it was better than out in the Weyrbowl, where she had been.
She shifted gently so that she could look into the sleeping face of her new Weyrmate. Her face was soft with love for him. She took one slender digit and gently traced his hairline down to his chin. She pressed a kiss on his mouth - she could never remember being this happy. She hadn't thought it possible.
I did well, did I not? The words of her Green reached her, and she sounded pleased. Ilydeth was on her weyrledge, intertwined with her new mate. She looked rather proud of herself.
Extremely well, my love, the Greenrider replied. But she was distracted by the sight of something that made her go pale all of the sudden.
V'sos had a deep cut in one arm. It looked jagged and painful, uncomfortable. She inhaled sharply, causing a hissing sound from between her teeth. She stroked the skin of his arm, her brows pulling together in worry as she viewed the injury on her precious Weyrmate.
