Physical description: C’val is lean and rangy in appearance, though not hugely tall at 5’11. Dark of hair and eye, the Blackrider tends to blend in with his surroundings. He is tan from Turns of dragonriding, and perhaps his most distinguishing physical characteristic is the scar that shadows the left side of his face. It extends from his cheekbone down into his neck, and it is livid and bubbly in appearance, as is common in burns. C’val almost exclusively wears dark riding leathers, and can always be found to have a few knives about his person. His dark hair is cut short, and his brown eyes are almost black in color. He perpetually has a five o'clock shadow no matter how much he shaves, and has permanent frown and thought wrinkles on his forehead.
Personality description: C’val is sarcastic and acerbic. He always says what is on his mind, and is very arrogant. He has a nasty temper when crossed, and is not a compassionate person. The one area in which he is soft is his dragon. He loves his lifemate more than life itself, and there is nothing else that he cares remotely about. C’val is a serious person, and rarely laughs. Disciplined and well-trained, C’val is a skilled fighter, so it would take an unwise person to cross him. C'val is typically the kind of fellow that will do the unpleasant thing that a good person wishes he or she had the courage to do...and he'll do in unflinchingly.
History: Coval was trained as a Metal craftsman, and very early on, learned how to create weaponry. In his spare time as a boy, he would train with the weapons he forged, and challenge others to duals just for fun. Over the Turns, he became exceedingly skilled in both his craft and his hobby of dueling. There was no one within the Crafthold who was willing to fight him any longer, knowing the strength of his skill, and not wishing to receive a solid beating. It was a surprise to all when he was Searched for Telgar Weyr at the age of 15 Turns, and an even bigger surprise when he agreed to leave his forging to go with the Searchrider. It didn’t take long on the Sands for Coval to Impress Ragnoroth, one of the first Blacks to ever grace Pern. As dark and ill of humor as his rider, the pair was not going to win any popularity contests at Telgar. Over the Turns, the two became a highly skilled Threadfighting duo until C’val rose to the rank of Wingsecond. Along the way, he and his Ragnoroth got into one bad scuffle with Thread, leaving C'val with a scar on his face. C’val had the unpleasant experience to be Weyrmated to a woman he loathed called Tiana, when his Ragnoroth Flew her Pareth. This partnership tormented him, and eventually, the Blackrider decided to leave Telgar in favor of Xian Weyr, hoping to get a fresh start.
