Name: H’skal
Rank: Candidate Master, Bronzerider
Gender: Male
Age: 28 turns
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Physical description: H’skal stands at a comfortable 5’8”, but carries himself with a casual slouch. He has a tendency to drape himself over the entirety of whatever piece of furniture he’s using to relax, letting his arms and legs dangle every which way. Often, he wears shorter-sleeved tunics that keep his toned biceps in clear view, only covering up entirely when it’s time to handle Thread. He has thick, curly black hair, wood-brown eyes, and warmly tanned skin. His jaw is strongly squared and he has long lips and an aquiline nose.
Personality description: As lively and easygoing as they come, H’skal has an incredible knack for never doing more work than he absolutely has to - which gives him, as it turns out, an excellent eye for delegating responsibilities. To the unfamiliar observer, he gives the impression of living life as though he was in a never-ending party where he’ll be in his twenties forever. More serious individuals with less patience for his hedonism often perceive him as the eternal slacker. He loves telling stories, dancing, drinking, and leading groups of wide-eyed, excitable candidates on pseudo-forbidden night-time excursions - all of which have made him a very popular Candidate Master with past arrivals. More than anything, H’skal knows how to keep the morale high for his charges.
His private life is markedly less entertaining. H’skal has never had a romantic relationship lasting longer than a few months, nor has Conleth ever successfully Flown another dragon, despite having been eligible for the past five turns. When people do attempt to get closer to him, they often find themselves maneuvered into discussing something less personal or outright dropped in favor of more casual acquaintances.
History: H’skal was born an only child, but was surrounded by a veritable sea of Weyrbrats his entire life. He never lacked for company from his peers, nor attention from his parents - in fact, they outright doted upon him. There was no situation in which his family wouldn’t bend over backwards to make him happy. He could have become spoiled beyond imagining, but instead he was merely lazy and lacked ambition. He never pursued anything that took him too long to accomplish, never fought for anything a day in his life, and never pushed himself to achieve that which didn’t come naturally. Fortunately for H’skal, the thing that came most easily to him was being very likeable. He rapidly developed a reputation for being something of a pied piper to his fellow Weyrbrats - whenever he had a wild idea or adventure in mind, odds were decent he could convince at least half a dozen of his peers to go along with it.
His parents were fiercely proud when he managed to Impress a Bronze dragon, which allowed him to completely inadvertently live up to their hopes that he would make something grand of himself. Suddenly smothered by things like responsibilities and duties, H’skal began to feel cramped in a place where he had once felt like a prince. When he was offered the position of Candidate Master, despite the fact that it was a dreaded Steady Job, he accepted purely to get away from the expectations of a home that had hoped he would do more than develop a flock of partyfriends. To his surprise (but not to the person who hired him), he turned out to be a fairly solid choice for the job. Assigning work to other people? Spending all of his time talking to enthusiastic, Impressionable weyrfolk? Being admired as an authority figure without actually having to handle something as boring as politics or tactics? He couldn’t fail.
Weyrmate: None
Pets: Delphine - A chattery little green firelizard, trained to perform various, minor tricks of mimicry in exchange for snacks
Dragon's Name: Conleth
Dragon's Color: Bronze
Dragon's Physical Description: Conleth has thick, well-muscled wings that stretch to incredible lengths, seeming almost too large for his lean, sleek body. His bronze hue ripples from light to dark and back again multiple times over every scale, rarely obscured by dirt and largely unscarred by Thread.
Dragon's Personality Description: Of the two, Conleth is far more likely to become attached to other people & dragons. Genial, playful, and full of energy, he greatly enjoys spending time with candidates and other unimpressed citizens, especially those young enough to still be in awe of him. In nearly all things, the two are perfectly paired, but they have actually come to outright bellowing matches in the past over people that H’skal chose to cut out of their lives.
