Name: Craissia (Craiss)
Gender: Female
Age: 19 Turns
Sexuality: Bisexual
Physical description: Fit, lean, and deeply tanned from a life by the sea, Craiss is limber and fast. She has long, thick, curly brown hair that hangs down over her shoulders when she doesn’t have it restrained by a leather band. Her silt-brown eyes rest under expressively thick eyebrows, which have plenty of space to climb up her broad forehead. Her curved lips lend a sly air to her smiles, as though she’s often laughing at an inside joke or is hiding a secret.
Personality description: Craiss is the kind of girl who can roll with anything and keep a steady center. The unpredictable life & weather of her former home left her with an expectation that everything and everyone will change at some point. In most public interactions, she seems to overflow with enthusiasm. There’s almost no idea that she considers to be an outright bad idea. Unexpected events aren’t just something to be handled: she LIVES for them. She loves surprises, cheering for underdogs, and going for nice, long swims. However, embracing change doesn’t prevent her from feeling deep attachment to people & places she loves. In quiet moments, she’ll take time to look over her mementos to remind her of memories that will never return.
History: Raised in a seaside fishing hold close to the southern edge of the northern continent, Craiss has always had access to unadulterated freedom. When she was 9 turns of age, her father perished in a wild storm, leaving she and her mother to make a life for themselves in the aftermath. She inherited his fishing boat and learned how to sail it with the aid of the other fisherfolk of the hold. It was a life to which she was well-suited; often, she would set her nets and then go swimming for hours to tiny islands off the coast, pretending she was a brave explorer and the first to set foot on those strange sands. As she grew up and the number of unexplored, reachable mini-islands began to dwindle, she started taking her boat out by night more and more frequently until it became her typical routine. The other fisherpeople assured her that was the best time to catch fish anyways, but she was more invested in stargazing (which she fancied was a lot like exploring without the actual payoff of reaching the destination.)
By 19 turns of age, she was trying to negotiate with Master Builders in hopes of constructing a boat better able to withstand the tempestuous nature of the seas. Most of them were only interested in building structures for land, while others were convinced it was an all too expensive endeavor that would ultimately prove to be fruitless. A Searchrider visited her hold while she happened to be delivering a passionate speech about the importance of striving for change (“For the good of the Hold! For the good of everyone!”) When the Builder finally sighed and said he would consider it, the rider approached her and posited the idea that not only were dragons an excellent way to navigate over the seas, people respected Dragonriders more than other folk. Someone with a rank might be able to influence research where a fisherwoman could not. Suitably intrigued by the proposal, Craiss agreed to come along and see if she might Impress a lifemate of her own.
Dragon color preference: No strong preference
Pets: A blue firelizard - Beggar - found in a clutch on a small island during one of her seafaring excursions.
Patchy calico feline - Belly - bought for a few marks from a passing trader whose feline had just birthed a litter.
