Physical description: Jaimes has black hair that is slightly too long, and nearly always messy, no matter what he does to it. Though not unattractive, he is also not overwhelmingly handsome with his rather sharp features. He has deep hazel eyes, which often crinkle at the edges with mirth, or dance with mischief.
He is medium height, at 5’10, and lanky. His collection of limbs are gawky, giving him that trademark stretched teenager look. His skin does not tan easily, but he also doesn’t really burn too badly.
Jaimes has long fingers, so long in fact that one would think he had been a Harper. Often, Harpers he has met has told him that he has the perfect fingers for playing instruments, but Jaimes is not musically talented.
The Candidate is growing so fast that his body simply can’t keep up, and so it is likely he will grow taller, and that eventually, he’ll gain more muscle mass, but at the moment, his chest is almost concave in its skinniness.
Personality description: Jaimes is a rather rakish youth, with a knack for mischief. He is insanely smart, and he knows it. He can come across as cocky, but underneath it all, he is a pretty nice guy. He hates injustice, and loves to play the knight-in-shining armor.
You wouldn’t know it immediately from meeting him, but he has a romantic side. He is not very good at flirting, though some might find his bumbling attempts endearing.
Loyal to a fault, once you have Jaimes as a friend, you have him for life. He will stick with you even if you are wrong, and support you through thick and thin. He is very brave and bold, and doesn’t shy away from a challenge.
He has a love of the outrageous, and will pull crazy stunts just for attention, which he thrives on. He is a natural born leader, and will stand up when the situation calls for it. He is the type of leader that everyone loves to follow—he values his followers.
Generally a lighthearted sort of fellow, Jaimes comes across as charming, if his arrogance and vanity doesn’t annoy you first.
History: The eldest son of a Lord Holder, Jaimes was groomed from an early age for leadership, which explains his well-developed skills. He was used to being listened to when he spoke, and had much responsibility at a young age. He had to make his own fun as a child, because without it, he would have had a pretty solemn childhood filled only with duty and obligations. Jaimes ran around with other Holder children, often coming up with games for all of them to play together. He was the ringleader. When he was seven Turns old, his brother Mesaj was born, and suddenly, Jaimes had a minion all his own. The little boy hero-worshipped him, and was crushed when Jaimes was Searched at age 18.
There was a real debate inside of the boy whether or not he should go and Stand, but ultimately, he decided that he should go, as he never really felt suited to the life of a Lord Holder anyway. So, he went on to Southern Weyr and Stood for a Turn, until he decided to try out Xian Weyr instead. Maybe his lifemate was waiting for him in the jungle.
