Candidates at Work

Infirmary duty? Shards, had they not heard about the last time she was assigned to help out in the infirmary? Hmm, best not to mention it to anyone just in case. Grinning, Aislyn quickly pulled her hair up into a tail and double checking that the clothes she had on would be okay with smelling like the infirmary before heading out. The red head knew she'd be needing a bath after spending so much time in there, numbweed took forever to get out of clothes and skin. Hopefully there wouldn't be any Healers there who had sticks up their rears, the last time she'd crossed one of those she'd ended up in a bit of trouble for pulling a prank on them. Who knew he wouldn't double check the labels before using some of those jars. She still didn't think it was her fault he hadn't read the darn thing. But it was probably for the best if she at least tried to be on her best behavior for a while. At least until she could figure out who was who in this place and how they reacted to different things. 

It was a surprise when she got there and two other girls were already working on organizing the shelves. Huh, she hadn't thought she'd be late. Or were they just early? Yeah, we'll go with that one. "I'm not the last one, am I?" Aislyn called out as a greeting, smiling to the other two as she moved to stand next to them. "Is this what we're doing for now? My timing must've been rather good because I didn't see any Healers on the way in." She mused, glancing at what they were doing before deciding she had no idea how they were sorting the things. "Do you two need help here? Or should I go track down someone to see what else I can do?"

Please let them need help. She didn't want to be cleaning up the infirmary or end up doing something dull like rolling bandages. She'd done that once, it had been horrible! Which...now that she thought about it was probably the point. The candidate master at her last Weyr had found out rather quickly to find the most boring things they could think of for her to do as punishments. Smart man he was, catching onto her weakness so early on.

Thunder Seirye

Alea heard something behind her and whirled around to see Aislyn. She gave her fellow candidate a smile, “Hello there. We do not know who might be last,” she looked to the npc candidate beside her who nodded enthusiastically in agreement, “it is not our day to watch then candidates,” she said with a wink, “we certainly can use you here. I thought it would be best to organize these with the most often used easier to reach, but some of these herbs neither of us can identify.”

“Hey, Kaeli!” she said when the next candidate arrived, she pointed to a group of jars and bags, “Those are the mixtures we cannot identify, I mean, their names are attached, we just do not know what they are used for. Why don’t you take a look at them and see if you know them? If you do, tell us what they are for and we will try to place them based on how often they would probably be used. When we are done, then we will hunt up a healer and find out if there is anything else to do.”

Alea was busily working with the other candidates on getting the Still Room into order when she noticed Exzeter sitting and reading. She did not mind Exzeter not working with them, after all it looked like she was very interested in the hiders. Perhaps her fellow candidate had healing knowledge, expanding her knowledge would only help her weyrmates in Alea’s opinion. Hearing footsteps, though Alea moved to warn Exzeter.

“Hey, I know that must be interesting,” she whispered, “but…”

“Ladies I will be reporting your behavior to the Candidate Master,” came a voice behind them, “there is a time to work and a time to read. Now is your time to work and you are failing to do that,” Alea winced at the words of a journeyman healer who had obviously come to check on them, “you do know a non-obedient candidate can be sent away before the Hatching?”
