Name: D'von (Formerly Devon)
Rank: Senior Bronze Weyrling
Gender: Male
Age: Twenty
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Physical description: Standing at six foot one, D'von is considered the tallest of his family; easily out growing his father. His skin has always been tanned from working outside and doing chores when he was younger and then from all the work as a rider. However, it's not his height or his frame that one would notice first. His eyes have a way of getting people's attention seemingly effortlessly. The orbs are a medium blue color with a small ring of blue-green close to the center. His gaze is usually thoughtful and it seems as if he's always thinking about something. D'von has a few freckles here and there that don't really stand out very much with his skin tone. His hair is usually a mess, no matter how hard he attempts to tame it. While straightish, he often times is found running his hands through the deep chocolate stands or pulling at a lock here and there. [And he wonders why he can never keep it neat.] While used to hard labor, he certainly got much better at if after arriving at the weyr and after Impression. His body is constantly getting worked and it shows. His hands are rough to the touch and there are times when he hardly notices how dirty he can get. While no longer in the awkward growing phase, D'von can still be a bit clumsy, more so when he is around a female he is currently interested in. The young man is quick to have a smile or a frown on his face, depending on his mood. Though the smile seems to be better suited to his facial features.
Personality description: If there's one thing D'von is most known for, it would be his stubbornness. Once he has an idea in his head, he'll stick to it and there is nothing that could sway him from that path. Which isn't always a good thing. He had trouble making friends when he was younger, but as the turns passed being social came easily to him. He finds it easy to talk to people and if in the right company, can enjoy spending time with people. Somewhat of a farm-boy, D'von will work as hard as he can to keep things running smoothly. He's proven to be a fast learner and will practice almost daily on something that catches his interest. He's also observant, taking the time to observe his surroundings and picking up on things most people would miss. When it comes to his friends and family, the boy has an unwavering loyalty. They are his loved ones after all, and he'd been darned before he'd let any of them getting hurt or messed with. If he does manage to see someone doing anything to them, you can expect him to explode. D'von has a short temper when it comes to bullies. Yes, he has been in several fights, most of them to defend either himself or his friends/family. He is not afraid to fight for what he feels is right or for those he loves. He can make a great friend, if you take the time to become one.
Beasts, mainly runners, are his favorite subject (aside from dragons). When excited about something that happened within the stables, D'von begins to talk fast, almost slurring his words together. He can't help himself. He just gets so excited that he doesn't pay attention to the words because his mind is going a mile a minute. Most things beyond this topic are deemed not as important and are easily forgotten. At times, he's known to be rather blunt. Especially if it's in a situation where he cannot see another way. There's also times when he can't read the mood to attempt to put it in a more gentle way. People he does not like will know. He will be make sure you know if you're in his favor or not. These people should be prepared for sarcastic remarks about anything they do or say. In fact, his whole attitude towards them is completely sarcastic, as if he can not treat them seriously. And he does not feel bad about it, after all, they gave him a reason not to like them. Be wary of actually making him angry, D'von is quite capable of holding a grudge. Now if he finds a female who sparks his interests, he can be confident and flirts easily. But it will take a bit before they can really spark his interest. He'd be a hard catch.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ Hard-worker, loyal, friendly, stubborn (never gives up).
- Blunt, holds grudges, gets into fights easily, can't always read social settings, stubborn (won't always back down).
Likes and Dislikes:
+ Runners, dragons, firelizards, cards, being with friends,
- Bullies, healers (doesn't always trust them), being angry, the lonely feeling after not Impressing.
Points of Interest: He tends to talk out loud to himself sometimes. You can usually tell by his unfocused gaze and a hand tugging at his hair. He's also been known to be a bit handy when around a runner who's giving birth.
History: Devon was born after a one night tryst between a blue-rider and a women who worked in the kitchens of Fort Weyr. He was the second child born to D'varr; and though he grew up with the rest of the Weyrbrats, he did get to know his half-brother. Most of the boy's childhood has been spent running around with the other children or following the Harper around. He had an interest in being a Harper early on, though he didn't think he'd want to stay in one place for long. However, that soon changed after his ninth turn when he watched a Hatching and actually payed attention to all of it. He wanted to grow up and become a rider! Two turns passed and then came a bit of a change. D'varr would be transferring to a new Weyr, the boy never found out why, just that it had to be soon. D'varr would not question his Gold-rider's orders, no matter how suspicious it looked; had he somehow stepped on someone's toes? Most likely. However, he did bring Devon along; the boy would make a good candidate as soon as he reached the right age. That and the boy continued to pester him. Wherever D'varr was going, Devon was going too! Where they ended up was amazing to the boy! Between was nightmarish, and he didn't really want to go back there anytime soon, but they were somewhere new!
It was just a month after they settled in at Igen and something was wrong. D'varr wasn't looking very well at all, nor was his blue. This worried Devon as the man was the only family he had and the only one he really knew. It wasn't much longer that the both of them betweened because of illness caused by an infection, or so a healer told the boy. Now he was left alone in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people. However, there were many other children his age running around. It was then he started making friends; because who didn't want to hear all about the dragons and riders of Fort? And boy did he have some stories! Things never went as planned. After a full turn he was pretty much adopted into the weyrbrats of Igen, but he slowly began to draw away from the group. Until it ended up with him leaving the Weyr altogether, to pursue a new interest. Beastcrafting. While yes, he did still hold on to that dream of growing up and becoming a rider, he felt like learning something else, something new. Dragons had been a part of his life as far as he could remember, runners; they were shiny and new. Well, not really shiny, but interesting enough to snag his attention.
It was at the Beastcrafthall that he was apprenticed to for four turns, and he soaked in as much information as he possibly could. He seemed to have a natural hand when it came to runners and this pleased him greatly. That dream of being a rider never left him though, nor did the memory of his father.
It was barely after he turned 18, just a few days after the latest hatching that Devon was spotted for a Search. He'd been wiping down one of the runners when a dragon pair arrived at the hall. Devon wasn't even aware of it as he'd been in the stables for most of the afternoon. So when he walked back to get himself cleaned up for supper, he was blocked by the dragon until a man came. It was the rider, and he offered Devon the chance to Impress a dragon at the next hatching. But if he wanted to go, they'd need to leave then. First, he wanted to argue. Who was he to just come in and swoop him up when he'd spent turns, Turns, in this craft. And then a small part of him, that part that he figured was in every young boy, had him thinking about the possibility of actually Impressing to a dragon. Debating with himself, he finally came to the conclusion that he would go to the Weyr. BUT, as soon as he aged out, he'd be back to the beastcraft and get on with his life.
Several hatchings have come and gone and still, no dragon for Devon. While, yes it did get sort of depressing after a while, he still continued with keeping up on his beastcraft. He didn't want to get rusty and have to be an apprentice for longer! But...the fact that he'd stood several times on the sands and watched as all those dragons went to person after person was starting to get to him. He was confident in his own abilities but it was starting to look like he was not going to Impress. What would D'varr think of this? His son unable to Impress a single dragon, not even able to get a glance from one either. Oh well, at least he still had his runners and herdbeasts. They weren't as judgmental as dragons, and easier to bathe as well.
Finally after what seemed like a lifetime, the hatching that contained Devon's dragon finally arrived. He'd always remember watching all the eggs before landing on a bronze who'd managed to shatter his egg as he escaped. And it was a handsome bronze too, his coloring unlike anything the young man had ever seen before. With a cheery trill, the young dragon charged forward towards the candidates. The noise and movement and confusion of the crowd and dragons in the cavern didn't really seem to phase the hatchling. Perhaps it would take a lot to rattle this big boy- and he was big. It was already obvious he would be above average in size for a bronze.
Many boys reached out the the weighty hatchling, but he didn't have eyes for them. His intended lifemate was just ahead, and he was perfect!
Weyrlinghood had proved to be interesting but they finally became Senior weyrlings and got to have weyrs of their own. Or at least that had been the plan before it was discovered that there wasn't enough room. Which was fixed by the realization that the new Xian Weyr would need numbers and off they went to the jungle.

Dragon's Name: Novith
Dragon's Color: Bronze - #938842
Dragon's Physical Description: Novith's hide is comprised primarily of two colors; the rich darkness of the underlay and the eye-catching whorls of a lighter, near golden hue that make him a spectacle to behold on the sunniest of days. The swirls wrap themselves around her body from snout to tail in a seemingly random arrangement at first glance - closer inspection reveals a mirroring pattern which can be traced from head to tail, as well as along the backside of his wing sails. Of moderate size and impossibly bulky build, Novith has all the grace of a river barge when taking flight. This bronze's barrel chest ensures a record-setting flame, but his speed and agilty suffer greatly.
Dragon's Personality Description: Novith is everything a good leader could be. He is patient through and through and this manifests itself in many ways. He doesn't rush into a situation, but rather takes the time to see a situation from every side. This isn't to say he's indecisive, he just prefers making informed decisions. He doesn't mind waiting for a situation to evolve properly - he likes doing things the right way at the right time where his actions will have the biggest possible impact. Where D'von can sometimes become impatient and leap before he looks, Novith will calm his rider and help him make better decisions. He will work hard at lessons and drills in order to be the best he can be for when he takes to the skies to fight Thread. He considers it his duty to fight and protect his Weyr and it's inhabitants. Once graduated and in the air with a Wing, he will be a fierce fight. Novith will listen to orders and not break formations be he will attempt to flame more than his share.
He is naturally a friendly dragon and his not shy when it comes to talking to others, be they dragons or humans. As easy going as his rider can be, it will take a lot to truly upset Novith. He tends to see the best in everyone until they have proven him wrong and even then he would still want to be your friend. So long as you don't do anything to his rider or himself consider yourself safe from his rare temper.
