Physical description: Jackine is tall and supple of body, rather like a tree trunk. She has not fully developed her womanly shape. Her face is a smooth oval, with full lips and deep brown eyes that glint with intelligence shining out of it. Her nose is rather broad in her face, and her ears are hidden by a mass of kinky brownish-black curls that stand out from her head in an afro of natural beauty.

She had a modicum of talent in tanning, and so she helped her father in his craft from a young age, and later, she was in charge of peddling his wares because of her people skills.
The girl was always treated more like an equal than a daughter, as she was born when her parents were both very young after a youthful night of indiscretion at a Gather. Surprisingly, they stayed together over the turns, and turned out to be a good match for one another.
The three of them were best friends, Jackine’s mother always making them laugh, her father the solid backbone of their family, and Jackine the bubbly, outgoing personality that drew people in.
One day when Jackine was out helping her father sell his wares, a Search rider identified the young woman as a potential Candidate, and mentioned that they had just opened a new Weyr in the jungles of the Southern continent.
It was the hardest decision that Jackine ever made, and many tears were shed in the process. Her parents were desperately sad to lose her, but encouraged her to do what she wanted, assuring her that they loved her and would always be there for her whenever she needed them. It was with their loving support that she agreed to go to Xian Weyr.
