Harbinger
Ulrict growled as he circled his opponent. The convict had not expected to be met with resistance, especially from a Rider. A nasty gleam glinted in his eye as his machete made contact once and then again with the other man's hammer. He wondered what color dragon would go /Between/ this day when he succeeded in killing its Rider, the higher ranking the better. Dragonriders always fancied themselves as better than everyone else merely because they fannied about with the giant creatures.
His hands jarred on impact with the shaft of the hammer and he had to jerk on his weapon to yank the blade out from where it had sunk into the hammer's handle. The delay cost him precious moments and the convict danced back to avoid getting rammed in the chest. His evasive maneuver wasn't fast enough and he snarled as the hammer crush his outer two fingers on his right hand.
"Dragonman, don't make this worse for yourself. Just die quietly." He hissed, voice dripping with malice. His unhealthy hatred of dragons and their Riders stemmed from his early youth when he was soundly rejected by a Searchrider. His mind isn't whole. That was what that snooty Bluerider had said when he dismissed Ulrict with a backhanded wave. He could never Impress. His sentence in the mines had given him plenty of time to brood and stew over that interaction. Ever since he'd always dreamed of getting revenge and striking a blow to the spirit of the Dragonriders of Pern. Worthless sods.
Ulrict fancied himself to be light on his feet, but in reality the man's bulk of muscles slowed him down and his weight made him sink into the spongy turf of Xian's Weyrbowl. Ignoring the handicap, Ulrict lashed out with his blade, hacking at X'ric like the man was a mass of vines, hoping one of his blows would land.

Kimkinth watched, spellbound, as Ilydeth showed off, decrying the males and trumpeting her freedom. The Blue glided on a warm updraft, conserving his strength and putting his wide wingspan to good use. Ilydeth dipped and darted, flirting charmingly with the clouds as they began to roll in.
He could watch her for the rest of his life. V'sos may have had a devoted lover prior to finding Laloraine, but Kimkinth had never had a steady mate. He'd Caught countless Greens in his time, but he never pursued one time after time, rather he followed his instinct to Chase and mate but he'd never had that driving desire to make the Flight count, to capture his true mate.
Now times had changed. Now Kimkinth was determined to make Ilydeth his mate. And he would continue to Catch her as long as ichor pumped in his veins. She was captivating, living quicksilver that was sweet and tender. Kimkinth experienced the whole spectrum of emotions when he was with Ilydeth, and he knew that V'sos absolutely doted on Ilydeth'smine. Now both he and V'soshis had a chance to be happy again.
As the rain began to fall, Kimkinth turned on wingtip and beat his wings to close the distance. He hadn't dared to skim the treeline after her, rather he'd waited in the skies, knowing she would return to them. As soon as she did, he was not far behind. His protective eyelids made seeing his prize in the rain easy, the water sluiced right off of him as he hurtled through the drops, his smaller size making him quicker than the larger Bronze and Black.
He was glad he had blooded the third buck for it would give him the stamina to last to the end of Ilydeth's Flight without much issue. And he would be able to support both of them when he Caught her. The Blue left no space for doubt in his mind as he relentlessly pursued the lithe Green. She would be his mate!
